Leo Maslíah was born in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1954. In 1978 he began his intense career as a composer and performer of music, fusing popular, classical and jazz. The production of 'Eslabones' clearly shows Leo's brilliance as a musician and composer, taking you through a wonderful maze of melody, harmony and rhythm. As an instrumentalist his piano playing is full of complexities, though he's able to mold the intricacies of what he creates into a sound that is original, easily digestible and simply charming, an exquisite piece of work.

It is so true that in this world of creativity music and other art forms travel down the same path, for instance; music and dance, music and theater, music and film. Throughout the years images of candombe have been a great subject matter for many Uruguayan painters, and have served as a wonderful source of inspiration to them.
